The focus of this paper is an attempt to actualize a better understanding of the science of islam and Islamic thought, both locally and internationally through the publication of articles, research reports, and book reviews.

Peer Review Process
Every manuscript submitted to el-hekam is independently reviewed by at least two reviewers in the form of "double-blind review". Decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation. In certain cases, the editor may submit an article for review to another, third reviewer before making a decision, if necessary.
Publication Frequency
El-Hekam Journal is published regularly twice a year in June and December. El-Hekam will publish articles in each edition of the volume.

Ethical Publications and Malpractice Statements
El-Hekam: The Journal of Islamic Studies is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal, published biannually by the IAIN Batusangkar Postgraduate Program. This is an open access source available online and in print. This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publishing of articles in this journal, including authors, chief editors, managing editors, editorial boards, reviewers, language advisors, IT managers, and publishers. This statement is based on COPE's Guidelines for Best Practice for Journal Editors.
Guide to Ethics for Journal Publications
Publishing an article in El-Hekam: The Journal of Islamic Studies is an important building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Double-blind journal articles, peer-reviewed support and embodies the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree on the ethical standards expected of all parties involved in publishing actions: authors, editors, reviewers, language advisers, publishers and the public. As a publisher, El-Hekam: Journal of Islamic Studies takes its duties as guardian of all stages of publication seriously and recognizes ethical and other responsibilities. El-Hekam: The Journal of Islamic Studies is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints or other commercial revenue does not influence or influence editorial decisions.
Publication Decision
Editor el-Hekam: The Journal of Islamic Studies is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance for the researcher and the reader should always encourage such a decision. The editors can be guided by the editorial board of the journal policy and are limited by legal requirements as applicable in the future because of defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors can talk with editors and other reviewers in making their decisions.
Screening Plagiarism
Basically the task of the author only sends manuscripts free of plagiarism and academic malpractice. The editor, however, double checks each article before it is published. The first step is to check plagiarism against offline databases developed by IAIN Batusangkar's Research and Public Service Center and, secondly, against as many online databases as possible.
The game is fair
An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content irrespective of race, sex, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the author.
Confidentiality
Editors and any editorial staff may not disclose any information about manuscripts submitted to anyone other than potential authors, reviewers, reviewers, editorial advisors, and other publishers.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Unpublished material disclosed in the submitted manuscript shall not be used in the research editors themselves without the written consent of the author.
Viewer's Tasks
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review helps editors in making editorial decisions and through editorial communication with authors can also assist authors in improving paper quality.
Confidentiality
Any elected referee who feels ineligible to review the research reported in a script or know that his short review will become unlikely to have to notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
Confidentiality
Any manuscript received for review should be treated as a confidential document. They should not be indicated or discussed with anyone other than those authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be done objectively. The author's personal criticism is not right. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Source Recognition
The reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the author. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported must be accompanied by an appropriate quote. A reviewer should also call the editor's attention on the similarity or overlap between the manuscript being considered and other publication papers with personal knowledge.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose in their text any conflicts of financial interests or other substantive interests that may be interpreted to influence the outcome or interpretation of their manuscripts. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
When an author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in his or her own work, the author's obligation to immediately notify journal or publisher editors and work with editors to retract or repair the paper.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
Fundamental errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
