Guidance and Counseling (BK) services are an integral part of the educational system, designed to help students achieve optimal development across personal, social, academic, and career domains. However, some students still do not fully utilize these services due to negative stigma and a lack of understanding regarding their function. This study aims to examine student utilization of Guidance and Counseling services, student understanding of these services, and the obstacles encountered in accessing them at MAN 2 Tanah Datar. A qualitative, descriptive research approach was employed. Research informants included Guidance and Counseling teachers and students from MAN 2 Tanah Datar. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, while data validity was ensured using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Guidance and Counseling services—including information services, orientation, individual counseling, group counseling, and consultation—are provided based on student needs. Students gain an understanding of these services through orientation activities, outreach efforts, and regular communication with counselors. Obstacles identified include the stigma that counseling is solely for "problem students," feelings of shame or fear regarding consultation, and a limited understanding of the services' actual functions. Therefore, sustained efforts are required to increase the utilization of Guidance and Counseling services to effectively support optimal student development.
The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among university students raises concerns about potential dependence that may threaten intellectual independence and critical thinking skills. This study aims to measure the level of AI dependence among students at FTIK UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar and analyze its implications for group guidance and counseling services. The research employed a quantitative approach with a survey design. The research subjects were 37 students selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrument was an AI dependence scale consisting of 20 items covering four dimensions: cognitive offloading, anxiety without AI, compulsive behavior, and impact on academic independence. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the level of AI dependence among students was in the moderate category with a total mean score of 2.51. The cognitive offloading dimension had the highest score (mean=2.78), followed by impact on academic independence (mean=2.54), anxiety without AI (mean=2.42), and compulsive behavior (mean=2.29). These findings imply the need for group guidance and counseling services integrated with AI literacy programs, strengthening academic self-efficacy, and cognitive-behavioral interventions to prevent the development of pathological dependence among students.
2026-07-29T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Integrative Interconnective Counselling Journalhttps://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/icon/article/view/17417Makna Nilai Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah dalam Kehidupan Masyarakat Minangkabau di Salimpaung2026-07-07T11:19:28+07:00Khairunnisa Latifakhairunisalatifah7@gmail.comMona Lestarimonalestari809@gmail.comNurrahma Yaniysaja3790@gmail.com
The values of Adat Basandi Syarak, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah (ABS-SBK) represent the philosophical foundation of Minangkabau society, integrating customary law and Islamic teachings in everyday life. This study aimed to describe the understanding of the people of Nagari Salimpaung regarding ABS-SBK values, their implementation in social life, and efforts to preserve them amid social change. The research employed a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method. The informants consisted of niniak mamak (traditional leaders), Islamic scholars, and bundo kanduang (female traditional leaders), selected through purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation. The findings reveal that the people of Nagari Salimpaung still understand ABS-SBK as the principle that customary practices must be based on Islamic law, as reflected in the philosophy syarak mangato, adat mamakai (religion prescribes, custom applies). These values continue to be implemented through religious activities, mutual cooperation, family deliberation, conflict resolution through the Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN), and the moral development of younger generations. The sustainability of these values is supported by the roles of niniak mamak, Islamic scholars, and bundo kanduang through the concept of Tungku Tigo Sajarangan and Tali Tigo Sapilin. However, the transmission of ABS-SBK values faces challenges from globalization, technological advancement, the declining use of the Minangkabau language, and reduced youth participation in customary and religious activities. The study concludes that ABS-SBK remains a significant cultural identity of the Salimpaung community and has the potential to be integrated into guidance and counseling services based on local wisdom.
2026-07-29T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Integrative Interconnective Counselling Journalhttps://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/icon/article/view/17412Strategi Pembinaan Akhlak dan Kedisiplinan Santri pada Pondok Pesantren Darul Ulum Padang Magek 2026-07-07T10:17:09+07:00Madinatul Zahramadinatulzahra09@gmail.comNada Rahmadaninadarahmadani712@gmail.comOktavianisa oktavianisaoktavianisa061003@gmail.com
The development of morals and discipline of students is an important aspect of Islamic boarding school education, which aims to shape the character of students who are noble, disciplined, responsible, and able to practice Islamic values in everyday life. This article aims to examine various strategies used in the development of morals and discipline of students in Islamic boarding schools. The method in this study uses a qualitative phenomenological research method. The instruments used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The selection of informants in this study uses purposive and snowball sampling. Students are carried out through role models (uswah hasanah), habituation of religious activities, providing advice, supervision, and consistent implementation of rules. In addition, a religious and conducive Islamic boarding school environment also supports the process of character formation of students. The success of development is influenced by the role of ustadz, ustaddah, boarding school administrators, and parental support in supervising and guiding students. Despite various challenges, such as the influence of technological developments and the diverse backgrounds of students, the ongoing development strategies have proven effective in instilling moral values and discipline. Thus, Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in shaping a generation with character and integrity, ready to face the challenges of modern life.
2026-07-29T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Integrative Interconnective Counselling Journalhttps://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/icon/article/view/17414Kajian Mendalam Faktor Penyebab Perilaku Sering Absen dan Terlambat Siswa Mtss Darul Makmur2026-07-07T10:49:50+07:00latifa ladani purbalatifaladanipurba@gmail.commaulia apriandamauliaaprianda12@gmail.comnurul hanifahnurulhanifah@gmail.comrafela septirafelasepti190904@gmail.com
Social stigma is a process whereby others’ reactions can
undermine an individual’s identity.
