https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/15896

This study investigates the linguistic significance of singular (mufrad) and plural (jamʿ) forms in the Qur’an by examining nine key lemmas; ard, shams, qamar, ṣirāṭ, dīn, nūr, nafs, rīḥ/riyāḥ, and muslim. These lexical items display notable morphological variation and shifting grammatical functions, reflecting layered semantic distinctions within the Qur’anic discourse. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research analyzes all Qur’anic verses containing these lemmas through a linguistic–morphological approach and intertextual comparison with prophetic traditions. The analytical framework draws on balāghah, Qur’anic inimitability (iʿjāz al-Qur’an), and lexical exegesis. Findings show that singular forms predominantly express universal, essential, or conceptual meanings, while plural forms convey empirical plurality, contextual diversity, or intensified social nuance. Prophetic hadith affirm and clarify these semantic patterns by offering interpretive guidance that reinforces or refines Qur’anic usage. The integration of Qur’anic and hadith data reveals that morphological variation in the Qur’an functions not merely as stylistic choice but as a coherent theological–aesthetic structure. This study contributes to Qur’anic linguistic scholarship by providing an integrative framework for understanding the semantic and rhetorical interplay between singular and plural forms in the sacred text.
Aulya AdhliNur Hamidah PulunganMuhammad Akbar Rosyidi DatmiArwansyah bin Kirin

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/15798

Interpretations of ayat kauniyyah (verses about the natural world) in the Qur’an often vary depending on the exegete’s background and the intellectual context of their time. This article aims to conduct a comparative analysis of Surah Al-Mu’minun verse 17 as interpreted in Tafsir Al-Qur’anul Karim by Mahmud Yunus and Fath al-Qadir by Imam al-Shawkani. The focus lies on differing interpretations of the phrase sab‘a ṭarā’iq. This research employs a qualitative method through library research, using textual and tafsir book analysis of both exegetical works. The findings show that Mahmud Yunus adopts a scientific and contextual approach with ‘ilmi and socio-ethical tendencies, while al-Shawkani employs a classical linguistic method grounded in riwāyah and dirāyah. In conclusion, despite methodological differences, both interpretations affirm the greatness of God’s creation and demonstrate the dynamic and flexible nature of Qur’anic exegesis across different eras
Aulia Karimatul Ma'rifatLeni Mardiah

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/15881

The commercialization of education in Indonesia reflects a shift toward neoliberal educational governance, where education is increasingly treated as a market commodity. This trend is evident in significant tuition increases—UKT rates in public universities have risen by 200–400% over the past five years—and the expanding adoption of PTNBH governance models that emphasize financial autonomy and market logic. Drawing on a qualitative literature review, this study examines how commercialization shapes inequality of access and vertical social mobility within Indonesian higher education. Findings indicate that commercialization exacerbates structural disparities, as reflected in the low representation of students from the lowest-income groups—approximately 12% in top-tier public universities (SUSENAS 2024). Such dynamics weaken education’s role as a vehicle for mobility. Policy reforms ensuring affordability and redistributive mechanisms are urgently required.
Sri HandayaniRustam Ibrahim

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/15925

This study aims to analyze the role of religious instructors in strengthening community-based religious moderation at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) of Pakualaman, Yogyakarta. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of religious counseling practices within a plural urban community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving six informants, including religious instructors, community leaders, and community members. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify patterns of roles and strategies applied in community-based religious moderation. The findings reveal that religious instructors perform four key roles: internalizing values of religious moderation, providing consultative guidance, mediating socio-religious conflicts, and advocating ethical pluralism. These roles significantly contribute to shaping religious practices characterized by tolerance, dialogue, and non-confrontational attitudes. The study demonstrates that religious moderation is more effectively cultivated through dialogical approaches and sustained social relationships rather than purely normative or regulatory measures. This research contributes to the development of community-based religious outreach perspectives and offers policy implications for strengthening contextual and participatory religious moderation strategies at the local level.
Ai Euis MudrikahSihono Sihono

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/15893

This study examines the concept of women's mobility and freedom in a social environment based on the thoughts of Asghar Ali Engineer. As a progressive thinker in Islam, Engineer highlights how religious interpretations and social structures influence women's roles and freedom in society. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis methods on Engineer's works, particularly those related to women's rights, gender justice, and social reform. The results show that Engineer offers a perspective that emphasizes the reinterpretation of religious texts to support gender equality and women's freedom, especially in the context of social life. Engineer argues that a more inclusive and progressive understanding of religion can strengthen women's roles in society and reduce existing patriarchal structures. This research contributes to enriching the discourse on Islamic feminism, offering a new perspective in understanding the position of women in Islam, and strengthening the idea of social reform with gender justice. Thus, this research not only provides a deeper understanding of Asghar Ali Engineer's thoughts, but also invites the public to rethink traditional understandings that often limit women's freedom and role in social life.
Edwin JeriSartika Fortuna IhsanFaisal EfendiAnton AkbarIkhwanuddin Abdul Majid

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/16104

This article provides a comparative analysis of the responses of the three largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, namely Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, and Persatuan Islam (PERSIS) examining how spiritual, rational, and socio-economic dimensions are integrated within their disaster management practices. Employing a qualitative approach through a comprehensive literature review and thematic-comparative analysis, the study explores scholarly works and institutional reports on the role of Islamic civil society in disaster management. Findings reveal that NU emphasizes collective spirituality through public prayers and religious solidarity; Muhammadiyah demonstrates a rational-technocratic approach via the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) and its Disaster Jurisprudence (Fikih Kebencanaan) framework; while PERSIS contributes through zakat-based philanthropy and community empowerment initiatives. Together, they represent three fundamental pillars of Islamic disaster response: spirituality, rationality, and social justice. Theoretically, this study advances the Inter-Organizational Religious Disaster Response (IRDR) model, highlighting the importance of cross-organizational synergy in value coordination and institutional capacity. Practically, it recommends establishing a collaborative inter-organizational forum as a foundation for an inclusive, professional, and justice-oriented national disaster response system.
Novrizon MarzalMochamad Ziaul HaqDeni Miharja

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/16014

This study explores the problems of non-ASN that have not been resolved by the Pariaman city government, especially honorary Satpol PP who have not had the opportunity to become ASN (since 8 years) or PPPK (no formation yet). The issue of inequity between ASN and non-ASN Satpol PP employees clearly arises due to differences in wages and treatment, therefore it is necessary to find alternative solutions from the Muslim bureaucrat figure Ibn Khaldun. The study used qualitative methods and an in-depth interview approach and then carried out data reduction by prioritizing the most relevant data. The results of this study indicate that there are several alternatives that can be provided, namely in the sharia aspect, law enforcement for government officials who still accept honorary employees. Then the government needs to improve the job analysis process and workload, then in the Rijal aspect, it is necessary to provide training and continuous performance improvement for non-ASN SatpolPP. The budget allocation (Wealth) for non-ASN Satpol PP can be attempted to meet primary needs so that work motivation remains strong in overseeing regional development and implementing regional regulations. This circle of equity is an alternative solution to the problems of non-ASN Satpol PP Pariaman City.
Ulya FitriSri Putri RahayuNovrizon MarzalNetri Animsi

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/16203

The Qur'an, as the holy book of Muslims, is not only understood as a guide to worship but also plays a fundamental role in the formation of Islamic civilization. This research problem stems from the tendency to limit the understanding of the miracles of the Qur'an to linguistic and scientific aspects, thus ignoring its strategic role in social transformation and the intellectual development of Muslims. Based on this problem, the research question posed is how the ijazul Qur'an contributes to the formation of Islamic civilization through social transformation, intellectual development, and cultural formation. The methodology used in this research is a literature study by examining classical and contemporary literary sources relevant to the concept of ijazul Qur'an and the history of Islamic civilization. The results of the study indicate that the Qur'an plays a significant role in eliminating the tradition of ignorance, instilling noble moral values and justice, and encouraging the birth of a scientific tradition that has a significant influence on the development of world civilization. In addition, the Qur'an also serves as an inspiration in the formation of the legal system and various aspects of social life. The relevance of the teachings of the Qur'an which are maintained until today proves that the revelation of the Qur'an is an eternal miracle and is able to answer the moral and intellectual challenges of modern society.
Rabiatul AdawiahAchmad AbubakarHalimah Basri

Islamic epistemology positions Islam as the primary focus of examination. Islamic epistemology posits that the source of knowledge and truth is Allah, while recognizing that humans, as seekers of knowledge, contribute to the process of discerning truth. Prominent Muslim intellectuals advocating for the Islamization of knowledge encompass Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi and Sayyed Hussein Nasr. Both highlight the significance of merging knowledge with Islamic values, albeit through distinct methodologies. This study seeks to examine the concept and methodologies of the islamization of knowledge as articulated by Isma'il Raji al-Faruqi and Sayyed Hossein Nasr. This study utilizes library resources and adopts a qualitative methodology, concentrating on the analysis of the integration process suggested by the researchers.
Rita HandayaniAulia Fahmi

https://ejournal.uinmybatusangkar.ac.id/ojs/index.php/istinarah/article/view/16340

Polygamy is an issue that continues to raise debates in the discourse of Islamic law and modern family law, especially related to the principles of justice and the protection of women's rights. This study aims to analyze polygamy from the perspective of M. Quraish Shihab, by examining the meaning of justice and the ethical limits of polygamy through the interpretation of Q.S. An-Nisa verses 3 and 129. This research employs a qualitative approach in library research, utilizing the method of thematic interpretation (mauḍū'ī) and an interpretive-analytical approach to the works of Quraish Shihab, particularly Tafsir al-Mishbah, and contextualizes these works within the discourse of Islamic marriage law. The results of the study show that polygamy in Islamic teachings is not positioned as a command or encouragement, but as rukhṣah (leniency) limited by strict conditions of justice. Quraish Shihab emphasizes the distinction between outward and measurable material justice and affective justice related to love and the inclination of the heart, which by nature, is difficult to manifest perfectly. Q.S. An-Nisa verse 129 serves as a moral warning of the high risk of injustice in the practice of polygamy. Epistemologically, these findings suggest that Shihab's interpretation balances the authority of the text with the social context and ethical purpose of the Qur'an, so that monogamy is understood as the form of marriage that comes closest to the ideal of Islamic ethics, while polygamy is a strictly limited exception and full of moral responsibility.
Durotul QoyimahM.
