CONCEPT OF THINKING IN NEUROSCIENCE RELATED TO PROBLEM SOLVING AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN THE FIELD OF COUNSELING
Abstract
This study examines the thinking problems faced by humans in the view of neuroscience, among them is the inability to solve problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the concept of thinking in neuroscience related to problem solving and its implications in the field of counseling. Problem solving is the main goal of the counseling service process, which has not been associated with brain function. In the concept of neuroscience discussed the anatomy of the brain and its function in thinking, especially in solving problems. The brain area that functions in solving problems is the prefrontal cortex. This area will be disturbed if someone experiences negative emotions. In the counseling process, a counselor should foster positive emotions for the sake of the smooth resolution of the counselee's problems. The implication of the concept of thinking in neuroscience in the counseling process is a new paradigm called neuroconseling. Guidance and Counseling Teachers, Counselors, Guidance and Counseling Lecturers, and other counseling practitioners are expected to be able to know and understand the new paradigm of this neurocounseling approach, to be more effective in solving problems faced by counselees. The concept of neurocounseling in this discussion is the basis for other researchers who want to examine the concept of thinking in neuroscience in the field of counseling.
