MODEL KONSELING TRAUMA PASCA GEMPA MELALUI TERAPI PERMAINAN KELOMPOK TERHADAP SISWA MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH DAN MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH DI KOTA PADANG
Abstract
This research was aimed at building studentsÔÇÖ self confidence, improving their mental spiritual strengths, and learning motivation as well, and fixing their peer social interaction as the effects of huge earthquake taking place in Padang, on Wednesday, 30 September 2009. The focus of the research was the students of islamic elementary s (MI) and junior high schools (MTs) in Padang. To achieve the aims, Participatory Action Research (PAR
) was employed. The data of the research were collected through in depth interview, observation and open-ended questionnaire which were addressed to students and teachers of the schools. Based on the data, the counseling team and the teachers conducted group play therapy based counseling. The findings of the research showed that group play therapy based counseling could help the students in handling post tramatic condition they had gone through. In general, those students who got the therapy showed better pschological conditions, such as feeling happier, getting new motivation, building positive and dynamic interaction, and empathy. They seemed more prepared for the possible issues dealing with earthquake and tsunami in Padang.
