Water Quality Testing in Mosques Using Parameters of Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Potensial of Hidrogen (pH), Electrical Conductivity (EC), dan Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and Turbidity

Abstract

This research was prompted by the need to ascertain and determine the water quality used in mosques around UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the water used meets established health and safety standards. The aim of this research is to determine the water quality in mosques using parameters such as Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Potensial of Hidrogen (pH), Electrical Conductivity (EC), dan Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and turbidity. This is a pure experimental study with an experimental method using observation as the data collection technique. The research samples consist of water from six mosques around UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, namely, Jamik Silang Mosque, Baitul Muttaqin Mosque, JamiÔÇÖ Darussalam Mosque, Al-Hasyimiah Teuku Nyak Mosque, Babul Maghfirah Mosque, and Baitushshadiqien Mosque. The parameter testing was conducted in the Multifunctional and Physics Education Laboratory at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. TSS was measured using the gravimetric method, while pH, conductivity, and TDS were measured directly using the Water Quality Tester model number ez-9908. Turbidity was also measured directly using a Turbidimeter. The analysis results showed variations in water quality among the mosques. Jamik Silang Mosque, Babul Muttaqin Mosque, Al-Hasyimiah Teuku Nyak Arief Mosque, Babul Maghfirah Mosque, and Baitushshadiqien Mosque all received a classification of good water quality with light contamination, falling into class B. Meanwhile, JamiÔÇÖ Darussalam Mosque received a classification of excellent water quality, meeting the standards and falling into class A. It can be concluded that all the mosque water samples tested around the UIN Ar-Raniry campus are good quality and suitable for various mosques activities.
