Mathematical self-efficacy plays a pivotal role in mathematics learning, as students' beliefs about their capabilities shape how they approach problems, sustain perseverance in the face of difficulty, and interpret both success and failure. This study aims to describe the mathematical self-efficacy of eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Sungai Tarab within a mathematics learning environment employing Problem-based learning (PBL). A qualitative research design with a descriptive approach was employed. The research subjects comprised 18 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using methodological and source triangulation, encompassing a mathematical self-efficacy questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.924), participatory observation, and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that students' mathematical self-efficacy in the PBL context falls within the high category, with a mean score of 69,3% derived from the questionnaire and 64.1% from observational data. Dimensional analysis indicates that the positive and constructive attitude dimension yielded the highest score (71%), followed by emotional stability (71%), applicative ability (68%), and intrinsic motivation (67%). Supporting factors contributing to the elevated level of self-efficacy include selecting contextually relevant problems, the teacher's capacity to motivate students, collaborative learning practices, and the provision of appropriate instructional guidance.
