Abstract

Libraries play a crucial role in strengthening literacy, particularly within the family environment. This study analyzes the role of the Payakumbuh City Public Library in enhancing family literacy using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, with descriptive analysis employed to gain deeper insights. The results of the study show that the library plays a significant role in creating a safe and comfortable environment, with modern design and facilities that support family activities. Additionally, promotions through social media and activities based on social inclusion have encouraged family involvement in building a literacy culture. Partnerships with various parties, such as schools and Community Reading Parks (TBM), have also expanded literacy access through mobile library programs and relevant training. The library actively evaluates its shortcomings, such as optimizing new facilities, developing family literacy programs, and improving human resource quality to ensure more effective services for the people of Payakumbuh. The researcher recommends the formation of more specific and relevant family literacy programs tailored to the community's needs, as well as enhancing librarians' capacities through social inclusion training. Furthermore, it is suggested to expand collaboration with educational institutions, local communities, and private sectors to support the sustainability of literacy programs.
