This study aims to analyze the challenges of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) as a socio-religious phenomenon. This qualitative case study was conducted at MDTA Ash-Sholihin, Karawang. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the headmaster and a classroom teacher, and documentation. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. The findings show that IRE learning challenges are influenced by low student participation and learning interest, psychosocial conditions caused by dual learning systems, limited facilities, teacher competence, community perceptions, and low parental involvement. Teachers addressed these challenges through humanistic approaches, religious habituation, moral guidance, and simple learning innovations. The study indicates that the challenges of IRE learning at MDTA are not merely pedagogical issues but also reflect broader socio-religious dynamics that require synergy between educational institutions, families, and communities. This study contributes to Islamic education studies from a socio-religious perspective and offers practical recommendations for developing more contextual and participatory learning approaches.
