Focus and Scope

El-Hekam: Jurnal Studi Keislaman (Journal of Islamic Studies) is dedicated to bridging the gap between classical Islamic heritage (Turats) and contemporary global challenges. The journal aims to explore how Islamic values, laws, and philosophy can offer ethical frameworks and practical solutions for the crises of the 21st century. We emphasize research that moves beyond descriptive studies to critical, problem-solving, and future-oriented inquiries, connecting the textuality of revelation with the contextuality of modern civilization.

Scope: The journal invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit original research articles that address the intersection of Islam and the following global themes:

  1. Islamic Eco-Theology & Environmental Sustainability: Research on Fiqh al-Bi’ah (jurisprudence of the environment), Islamic perspectives on climate change, green spirituality, and religious-based conservation efforts.

  2. Islam, AI, and Digital Ethics: Studies regarding Islamic responses to Artificial Intelligence (AI), bioethics, data privacy, algorithm ethics, and the phenomenon of digital religion or "Cyber-Islam."

  3. Global Halal Ecosystem & Business Ethics: Beyond food compliance; covering ethical consumption, sustainable finance, the global halal supply chain, and Islamic philanthropy (Zakat/Waqf) as tools for poverty alleviation.

  4. Muslim Diaspora & Fiqh of Minorities: Dynamics of Muslim communities in non-Muslim majority countries, identity formation, Fiqh al-Aqalliyyat, and integration issues in the West and other regions.

  5. Human Rights, Gender, & Social Justice: Re-reading classical texts to address contemporary issues of gender equity, refugee crises, child protection, and universal human rights within an Islamic framework.

  6. Integration of Science & Revelation: Constructive dialogue between modern scientific discoveries and Islamic theology/epistemology, avoiding pseudoscience while promoting intellectual integration.
