Abstract

Local wisdom is the ability of a culture that has policy values, kindness, and harmony that is recognized and embraced by the local community so that it can become an attractive order and be able to survive even though it is carried away by the era of globalization. The preservation of local wisdom is faced with several challenges, such as social, economic and technological changes that can threaten the sustainability of local wisdom. The purpose of this study is to find out what are the challenges in preserving local wisdom and how to strategize in preserving local wisdom. The method used in this study is an exploratory-oriented qualitative research method that seeks to analyze research problems from reading sources by applying content analysis. Researchers use qualitative research to review the results of previous research and to interpret a phenomenon scientifically. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation techniques from various journals, proceedings, online news, and relevant books. The results of this study show that there are many forms of challenges and strategies in the preservation of local wisdom that can bring progress in several aspects. The conclusion of this study is to show that by maintaining local wisdom in the midst of many challenges in the era of globalization, it is very important and has many positive impacts both for the community and the country. The limitation of this study is that the researcher only focuses on what are the challenges and how to strategize in preserving local wisdom. The researcher’s hope for future researchers is to be able to develop and explain in detail and clearly what the challenges are and how or strategies to preserve local wisdom in the midst of the era of globalization like today.
