Abstract

The development of morals and discipline of students is an important aspect of Islamic boarding school education, which aims to shape the character of students who are noble, disciplined, responsible, and able to practice Islamic values in everyday life. This article aims to examine various strategies used in the development of morals and discipline of students in Islamic boarding schools. The method in this study uses a qualitative phenomenological research method. The instruments used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The selection of informants in this study uses purposive and snowball sampling. Students are carried out through role models (uswah hasanah), habituation of religious activities, providing advice, supervision, and consistent implementation of rules. In addition, a religious and conducive Islamic boarding school environment also supports the process of character formation of students. The success of development is influenced by the role of ustadz, ustaddah, boarding school administrators, and parental support in supervising and guiding students. Despite various challenges, such as the influence of technological developments and the diverse backgrounds of students, the ongoing development strategies have proven effective in instilling moral values and discipline. Thus, Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role in shaping a generation with character and integrity, ready to face the challenges of modern life.
